John and Beth Crabb will periodically be featuring some of our "QUALITY" Civilian Goods

Our socks are based on period published patterns for hand knitting of socks.   The socks are based on the United States Sanitary Commission Sock Pattern that was presented in the "Sanitary Bulletin" of February 1865.   Issue 13, Pg. 963.

These are a very comfortable sock that we have updated by the addition of a double heel.    This is necessitated by the facts of the modern reenactor.    We dont march everywhere all the time therefore we have  added a little comfort.

The socks are hand knitted with the original multiple needle technique.   They are not knitted on semi-circular modern needles, nor are they knitted on a machine.

These socks were originally made for us with a double heel, as additional instructions  suggested such a heel for comfort and durability.

Our socks no longer have this feature unless you request a custom knit pair.
